As with any mountain area, wildlife is always a subject. All animals must be respected if not for the safety of yourselves, but for the safety of the animal. Moose, deer, elk, bear, raccoon, fox, and mountain lion all live in the Grand Lake area. Most likely you will only encounter these animals if you choose to ( ie. driving up into the Park), but occasionally, these animals wander around town. Any of these animals can be dangerous if approached, but will not harm you if you keep your distance. Moose will charge if provoked - as will elk and deer. Always put trash in its proper container. Raccoon and Bear are scavengers, and are drawn to the scent of trash. Try to be as clean as possible so as to not attract any unwanted guests.
